Diversity, Equity, and inclusion
Harvard Ballet Company (HBC) is committed to creating an inclusive environment, especially in our audition process. HBC is committed to the condemnation of discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background. If you have any questions at all regarding auditions or DEI within HBC in general, please email Sedina Ackuayi at [email protected].Harvard Ballet Company practices holistic admissions. Your acceptance into the company relies on many factors, the primary being the amount of space we have for members. During the spring semester, Harvard Ballet Company has reduced capacity, due to the number of members we take in in the fall semester. This being said, we encourage you to audition again in the fall if you are unable to join in the springtime as more spaces open up as senior company members graduate. We look for dancers who not only exhibit technique, but also display artistry, musicality, and a bright stage presence.
Beyond the Barre
Beyond the Barre is peer mentorship program in which participants can sign up to be paired with a member of Harvard Ballet Company. Company members will share general tips and tricks and serve as a friend and accountability partner for mentees who want to improve their ballet or dance skills. Mentees will get to attend rehearsals and gain a behind-the-scenes look into how the semesterly Harvard Ballet Company shows are put together. They will also get the opportunity to put together a piece, with guidance from HBC members, and perform with Harvard Ballet Company in our fall 2023 show.
